Don't wanna be the one that spoils the party, but most if not all
scandinavian photographers have switched to high-tech electronic cameras on
their expeditions to the Arctica etc. EOS1's and F5's  obviously work very
well down to -40C as long as batteries don't get too cold. The trick is to
have one set inside your jacket close to your body, keeping that warm, and
switch with another all the time.
Their choices, not mine.

PS. F5 weighs about 1200 grams, OM3Ti 510 grams. For backpacking up the
Himalayas?
