If I had known it was that rare I would not have given it away!  :-(

At the time (1977) it was rather an expensive purchase at 280UKP
(roughly $460) which was well above the price of 'typical' independant
lenses and certainly gave excellent imagery, however it was definitely a
Series 1 marked lens.  As Gary suggests, they may have been marked
differently for Europe and the US, alternatively they may have changed
over time.
