Here's my wish list for a new OM body (and lenses):
Minimum spec:
(for $500 US price point)
1/250 flash sync
Metal lens mount, chassis, back, and film guides.
Well damped mirror assembly with pre-fire on self timer.
Quiet shutter, with 1/60 and B mechanical speeds.
Shutter speed dial as on OM-1,2,3,4
Meter display as on OM-4
Spot meter, shadow, highlight control operation and positioning as on OM-4
OTF metering with low light auto mode as on OM-2,4
TTL/OTF flash, with separate X jack and TTL jack. (as on OM-4)
Electronic shutter with full manual & auto control (as on OM-4)
Compatibility with all OM lenses, winders, MD, focus screens, etc.
2-13 screen standard
Additional Features which would be nice, provided price was still below $600
US:
Focus confirmation indicator with spot meter area used as target. (only
effective if it is efficient enough to use in low light/indoors)
Smaller spot meter area roughly equal to split image circle on -13 screens.
Auto bracketing mode, with or without winder operation.
True mirror lockup
Multiple exposure lever
Winder - I would prefer an updated, more compact and affordable version of the
Winder 2 over a built in design.
In addition, a 28-70 ~ f 2.8-4 zoom, and a 70-200 f4 zoom (both with ~1:2
macro) located somewhere between the new OM-2000 lenses and the 28-80/2.8 ED in
terms of quality and price. If this is not possible, maybe a re-introduction of
some of the older, less expensive Zuikos which are no longer made, updated with
MC, of course. It seems that the only Zuikos still sold new are priced for
those who can afford the OM-4T new, at $1800 CDN.
